The Abermain Eisteddfod is the longest-running eisteddfod of its kind in NSW, with it being the only eisteddfod still running within the Cessnock Local Government Area.
Established circa 1917, the Abermain Eisteddfod grew to be the largest eisteddfod in NSW by 1965, even rivalling the Sydney Eisteddfod.

It was established by the Methodist Church, under the guidance of founding member Mr Robert Hanley, who remained a committee member until his passing in 1955.
Today, the Abermain Eisteddfod continues to be an integral part of the culture of the Abermain community.
